Happy Holiday to everyone out there, may it be a safe and happy one for you and yours. The time has come for us to re-new with the State.  That is good news, as it means we have made it through our first year!!  We are happy to report that our goals have been met and we are ready to move on to stage two.  I know the Entertainment Request and Artist Application pages have been under construction for some time now, but as soon as we get the approvals back, we will be ready to post them and really be ready to get the fun started!

**Teaser...look for the press release next week where we officially announce that we have merged with STI.

A.R.E.A would like to congratulate Roy Hollis Jr, part of the A.R.E.A family, with Crosstown Rythem & Blues, for his outstanding performance at Talent Quest in Las Vegas this September (20-27th). After years of dedication, Roy swept an unpresidented three catagories: Male Pop, Country, and Duet Performance (with Tony Johnson). Keep your eye out around town for his performances both solo and with Crosstown Rythem & Blues. (For local coverage, see the showcase article here for more details)

The REMA 2009 was a great success once again!  Thank you to everyone who helped make this happen. I was very proud to once again be involved in such a great event!  The winners are all up on www.rockerie.com so make sure you go over and check them out.  Also, take some time and listen to other great music from the community in the artist section!

With that behind us for the moment, it is time to get back down to business here.  As you can see there have been some site re-designs.  As we mentioned before, this is a work in process.  We are coming up on our first anniversary and we are right on goal with where we want to be!  Look for more great things to come in the near future!

Thank you for all of the support for the Guitar Solo Contest! It went well and is something we plan on doing again.  The top winner for the over 18 category was Scott, an acoustical guitar player.  Proving that this contest is not just a shred contest. Josh won our 18 and under category.  Congratulations to both of them and to everyone who got up there and showed us that music really is art! You all did great!

More special thanks go out to:

The Erie Summer Festival of the Arts – for supporting this and letting us show that it will work.

Sonny Lombardozzi – for supplying our backline and helping with all you did to help make this a success, including judging.

Eric Brewer, Mike Orlando, Dan Peters and Guy for judging for us.

Without all of you, we would not have been able to pull this off the way we did.

I want to take a moment and comment on The Ideas of March.  This is a very special group of guys who through all of the transportation issues that went on (it took them 20 hours to get from Chicago to Erie), were the VERY best guys to work with all weekend.  They put on a great show with no sleep and didn’t ask for anything. I enjoyed working with such a professional bunch.  I would highly recommend you at any time. Thank you!

Now it’s time to move on and get the business back to what it was intended to be and help out with the Rock Erie Music Awards 2009.  Have you signed up yet? Deadline is July 6th , so don’t miss out on this HUGE opportunity and GREAT party for the music community in this area! Go to www.rockerie.com today!!

Well the Erie Summer Festival of the Arts has been a fun ride and it is almost over for this year. I look forward to seeing all of you down at Liberty Park at some point this weekend.  We still have a few spots open in both catagories.  We are in need of under 18 the most.  So grab your friends and your guitar and come down and have a little fun on stage.  You don't think you are good enough?  We will do our best to cater to a beginers group for the under 18 catagory for some fun and some unannounced prizes... we may even let you play what you are learning in classes if you are taking them, but you have to get down there and sign up!!  That will help us make our final decision!

It has been a busy week! We are still pushing hard to get people to sign up for both the Guitar Solo Contest and the 2009 Rock Erie Music Awards. If you have any questions about either, just drop us an e-mail.

Allentown was interesting.  Friday night I met a few fun new people at the Crocodile Rock Cafe, although it's the band's name I would not call it a "Bad Trip". After the show, was when the fun began...wait what fun? Even the hotel bar was closed! If it weren't for smoking outside and running into Kevin Rudolph (Let the 8th floor Rock?) and his band, I would have been asleep by 11...I was very confused.  Saturday turned out to be a much better day.  Waking up, walking around Mayfair (great Arts Festival BTW) and then back to the club to surprise Mr. Fetzer.  Great show, some great bands and a great girlfriend.  Thank you for all your hospitality while I was there. (Chris and Demetrious I hope to talk with you both again in the future.) Although I was still asleep by 1, the trip was worth it.  I look forward to working with Mr. Fetzer in the future.

I just uploaded the Guitar Player Magazine's 2008 Superstar Press release, check it out on the News Page. And now I'm off to the 2009 Rock Erie Music Awards meeting...then to Pittsburgh tomorrow! (more when I get back on that) Busy, busy!!

Keep Rockin'

A lot is going on around the office.  We can now announce the guitar contest we are working on with the Erie Summer Festival of the Arts (go to the contest page for all the details).  We also can tell you that four of our Judges are from the Guitar Player Magazine Superstar Contest Top 10 finalists of 2008.  What a great thing for Erie! To add to the excitement one of them is our own home town artist, Eric Brewer. They will all be playing on Saturday June 27th at the Pepsi Amphitheater following the contest. So come down and let them show you how music really is an art.

There are a lot of questions about the Rock Erie Music awards for 2009 from everyone out there.  It is going to happen!!!  Mettings are underway to get all the details together, keep your eye on Rockerie.com for all the details.

Ok back to work! Off to Allentown, PA this weekend. Pittsburgh, PA next week and who knows where after that!
